Task 2

Treatment

I have planned to do a stop motion of me drawing a scenery, I would like this to be a experimental type stop animation where the target audience will guess what I am creating throughout the stop motion, this stop motion would enable one to see the effort of creating just a single frame of a scenery  via stop motion steps, I have taken most of my inspiration from this Youtube video of a stop motion drawing of a tree, there is sort of a illusion to this animation as if the trees branches were growing (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abLbzUy__k4).

Pitch:
Show video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abLbzUy__k4
As you can see from this video each stop motion frame adds details to the drawing as well as helps achieves one step closer to the final image, This type of stop animation helps us to understand and perceive how animations and images come to life frame by frame. This is the type of animation I wish to achieve.
Show Image:

This is the image I intend to draw frame by frame for my own stop motion animation, I will colour it after the drawing is completed in order to bring emphasis on the detailing and life of the image.

 Audience Feedback:

Following up to the presentation of the pitch and treatment I've presented the following feedback was given from my class.

"Very unique Idea"
"Looks very nice"
"Be wary of how many frames you intend to draw as it may be time consuming to do many"

After reviewing the audience feedback I was ready to proceed with my idea however by also taking the frame rate and time into consideration.

I have decided to do my stop motion through the conventional way using hand drawn a background and a clay model as my main subject. The story of this animation will be of a figure walking through a deserted post-apocalyptic land, the reason why I want to go ahead with this Idea is because I could Play around with the setting/Environment in the animation as well as I will also learn the fundamentals of how to animate a walking figure. I plan to draw my background on a CG (computer Software), print them out and place it as my background. and frame by frame display them to create a stop motion animation.

One of my inpiration came from Edward Muybridge, he studied the motion of horses which I find intriguing as it shows detail we wouldn't otherwise notice, I wish to apply the same sort of study on human anatomy and animate a person walking, animating a character walking is the first step and the fundamental of animation so animating this will enable me to learn a lot about animating.

Another inspiration was from the ending credits Mirai Nikki (anime) where there is a little girl walking in the vast apocolyptic landscape.

Story: My story is going to be about a figure walking and we only see their face in some shots and a long shot side view, in the final cut of the scene we finally get to see what this figure sees.

I will use phtotshop for my animations background creation as photoshop can be used for colouring and designing the actual setting of the location.

Research: I have researched for many software’s to draw Photoshop, Retas and Opentoonz
Retas and Open toonz will be used for the animation itself as they both contain tools for onion skining
